Students at JT Henley in Charlottesville, VA, USA, worked with their peers at Bakat Ali Model School in Rawalpindi, Pakistan to investigate how poverty impacts their communities. JT Henely students focused on the problem of hunger, whereas Barkat Ali students focused on the problem of substance abuse. JT Henley students raised awareness and funds through a bake sale, in which all the profits were donated to Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank.
This student project was created as part of Global Citizens in Action 2014-15, a youth virtual exchange program that connects students in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and North America. It is run by Global Nomads Group, in partnership with PEACE in Pakistan and School of Leadership, Afghanistan (SOLA).
