The students at Amna Bint Wahab Independent Secondary School for Girls in Doha, Qatar investigated the important issue of resource waste in collaboration with the Humanities School in Trinity School in New York, USA. Together they created an awareness and action campaign about the problem, and the students have stated the following in regards to the issue and their project:
“We decided on this project because of what we witness daily with plastic water bottles wasted all over the school. Also, we were motivated by the amount of paper our teachers and staff in the school to print or photocopy and the amount that goes to waste. We decided to encourage students and teachers to use reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones, and we also encouraged school administration to reduce the amount of paper photocopied daily by recycling and reusing papers.”
This student project was created as part of Connecting Cultures, Exploring Science 2015-16, a youth virtual exchange program that connects students in the US and Qatar. CCES is run by Global Nomads Group.
